IS MY DONATION TAX DEDUCTIBLE?
Yes. Zap Kids Cancer is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) charity.
Where does the money go?
To pay for services and items that help reduce anxiety during treatment such as Child Life Specialists, Art Therapists, Family Transportation and Children’s Recovery Room Support & Therapeutic Supplies at any of the 15+ Proton Radiation Therapy Centers in the U.S. on a prioritized need basis.
How much of my donation really goes to the kids?
All of the money goes to help kids with cancer minus the cost of promotional materials and services to get the word out. There are no salaried employees and operating costs are kept very low.
Will I get a receipt?
Yes. You will get an automatic receipt by email for any donation made.
How much do you need? -or- How much is ZKC trying to raise?
The goal is to raise over $60,000 this holiday season and at least $100,000 additionally in all of 2017.
Can I only give a one-time gift or can I give a monthly amount?
You can do either or both. The website has options for one-time donations as well as monthly commitments that you can manage as ongoing transactions.
When was ZKC founded and where is it based?
ZKC was founded in August 2016 and is based in Cumming, GA.
Who started ZKC? -or- Is ZKC run by anyone we know?
Darrell Barr (President & CEO) founded ZKC based on his previous experience with helping children receiving the same proton radiation treatment as he received in 2013 for prostate cancer. Co-founding offices are Jim Yoran (Winston-Salem, NC - Treasurer & CFO) and Bob Alam (Ashland, AL - Secretary).
Is ZKC a registered Georgia charity?
ZKC is currently exempt from registration in Georgia as a start-up charity, but is in the process of registering in Georgia and many other states from which donations are being solicited.
