Message from the Founder

I founded Zap Kids Cancer in 2016 to extend the reach of my past work supporting the Children’s Fund at the University of Florida Health Proton Therapy Institute (UFHPTI) in Jacksonville, FL. It was there where I was first confronted with children being treated for spinal and brain cancers using the same method of treatment I received for prostate cancer. I became involved with a small group of men who raised funds over the last 5 years to pay for a Child Life Specialist and other family services to help reduce fear and avoid costly, risky anesthetics for many children. Most of those donations came from past and current prostate cancer patients. 

Much more help is needed at UFHPTI and other similar centers, so my vision is to create ways to involve more people in helping the children have a better, safer treatment experience.
